Hey everybody.
As I was browsing some old family photos (and I mean old. Like 1920's old) I noticed my great-grandfather had a pipe sticking out his mouth whenever he was shooting guns on the range in his back yard. It got me thinking, who here shoots and what's in your gun-closet?
I've got a Ruger Single-Six revolver, a Ruger 10-22, and a Zastava .22

I live in Texas, so down here we are required by law to have a stockpile of guns in case we decide to secede from the Union. Lol.
Unfired 1903 A3 rifle (my baby), four more converted to deer rifles, 2 Winchester Model 70 .270 rifles, a couple Winchester 30-30 levers, Ruger 22/10, Remington 870, Unknown make double barrel 12 ga, Ithaca .410/22LR, Glock .45, Springfield XD .45, Smith & Wesson .357, 2 S&W.38's, a .22mag derringer. Maybe more...can't recall.

That's an impressive collection! If I weren't a broke college student my combined PAD, TAD, and GAD (guns) could quickly get out of control. Once you buy one thing it's a slippery slope into spending more money than you have. I plan on acquiring as many guns as I will pipes, but for now I think 3 is a good start. I legally can't even purchase a handgun until I turn 21 anyways. And a Winchester 30-30 is my dream rifle.

A 30-30 is a fun little rifle to have, especially if you do any hunting in brushy country. I inherited one from my grandfather. The other, I picked up in a gun shop...used... for a little under $100 several years ago. Doesn't have a scratch on it. One has a scope, the latter does not. I bet if you hunted around, you could find one cheaper than most pipes!

When I worked up in the Pacific NW, I got kind of interested in the indigenous art up there. I wanted to try my hand at doing a coastal carving on a rifle stock. My Ruger 22/10 was about my least expensive rifle at the time, so it became the guinea pig.
I ended up carving a thunderbird on the butt stock, with a lightening snake on the front stock. A few months ago, my youngest son let it be known how much he loved this rifle....so for his 18th birthday, he became the new owner. It has a nice scope that goes on it, but he prefers open sights.

That was the first thing I noticed once I got more into pipes. These things get damn expensive! I'll have to budget between the two, but if I find a 30-30 I will definitely let you know.
I'm not sure what things are looking like in Texas, but have you noticed a complete absence of ammo in stock the last year or so? It is nearly impossible to find ammo in California, my home state. The second anybody gets a shipment it is sold out within hours. I had to shoot .22 shorts the last time I was on the range.

Yes, it's nationwide....especially .22 ammo. I won't get on my soapbox...

And that's a beautiful carving. I would be proud to be the owner of that piece. I had a bushnel scope on my 10-22 for a while, but the semi-auto made it sorta pointless. The open sights work just fine for me

Lessee... More guns than pipes.
10.5" AR, tacticooled 870 Marine Mag and a Glock 34 for three-gun matches.

870 Super Mag, CZ Partridge side-by-sides in 12-ga. and 20-ga., Stevens .22/.410 as far as hunting shotguns go.

Two Norinco M14s (yes, we get affordable M14 platforms in Canada), one bone stock, the other scoped.

1942 Long Branch No.4 Mk.1*, 1942 K31, 1927 Yugoslav M24 Mauser, and a Yugo M48BO in the milsurp department.

A scoped Savage MkII and a 10/22 with Tech Sights for .22's.

A Ruger .22/45 in stainless with a 5" bull barrel, a stainless GP100 with Cali barrel, and a Norc Government 1911.

A Lyman Great Plains .50 flintlock.
I like shooting milsurp and multigun matches, I hunt, I've been dabbling in Service Conditions Precision and CQB matches, and generally just like shooting guns at things.

A Lyman Great Plains .50 flintlock

Building/shooting a black powder rifle has been on my bucket list for decades. One of these days I'd like to put together a big percussion...maybe a .58 or something. I bet they're a blast to plink with. Did you build your flintlock?

I've got a 1960's Remington 700 chambered in .222rem that is my target rifle,

a Savage 64 in .22lr that is my gopher getter,

a 1934 Enfield in .303 British that is my favorite centerfire rifle and in my mind one of the best rifle designs ever,

an old Cooey model 60 single shot that is my favorite plinker,

a K-31 Swiss in 7.5x55swiss that is my moose and hog rifle,

a CIL single shot 12gauge that is my "under the bed, don't come in here" gun. (one one shot so don't expect a warning shot)

I plan on picking up a Zastava m5 or a CZ452 in .22 mag really soon for Yotes and Crows.

The closest thing I have to a black powder weapon is an old 1863 Springfield trap-door, in .50-.70 caliber. It fired a black powder cartridge. Honestly, I've always been a bit "skeered" to shoot it, even though it's in nice shape. I used to have an original box of unfired ammo for it, but eventually got rid of it, as I figured it was probably pretty unstable.

@ranger. Those old trapdoors are pretty strong guns. I'd say as long as you inspect it well, and use period correct ammo, you should be fine.
By the way, I love that 10-22 you carved!

Welcome ruger414! Yes shooter and Ruger fan here also.
Ruger Mk II Target, .22lr blued, bull barrel 5 1/2"

Ruger Mk III .22lr tapered, blued, (Belongs to my son. His favorite rimfire pistol.)

Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag

Ruger Old Army cap-n-ball .45

Ruger SR1911 .45 Auto, stainless 5"

Ruger 10/22

Ruger Mini 14 Ranch stainless, .223
Among others. Firearms are a proud tradition in my family spanning four generations.
Here is my latest: Savage Mk II .22lr heavy barrel with Cabelas Pine Ridge rimfire turret 6-18X.

The little Savage is a tack driver. Yeah the .22 shortage is really a pain. I check the local shops regularly and they are always out of .22. Loads of centerfire and shotshells but no rimfire. On Tuesday I picked up two 50 round boxes (limit per customer per visit) of CCI standard velocity .22lr for $7 each. What a travesty. I remeber when 500 round bricks were 6 or 7 dollars.
Ranger that stock carving and painting is awesome! Fine job on that.
Check out my black powder thread: Any Black Powder Shooters Out There?

My hunting rifle is a Remington 760 carbine in 30-06. I also hunt muzzleloader and flintlock with a Thomson Center Arms flintlock. The handguns I like most are S&W model 29 and Sig Sauer.
