They look so well dressed and grown-up, it makes me wonder what happened to America. Sure child-labor might not be great but... Kids today scare me silly. A little responsibility early on goes a long way.

I'm always fascinated by these types of pictures. So much to think about. These pictures speak to both the extreme success and extreme failures of our modern society. Perhaps you can't have one without the other. I look at my boys and think how fortunate we are. Yet I look at those boys and think how fragile we are. Even growing up on a farm, will my little youngest boy be prepared for the type of world he'll inherit? - so much different from that of the past few generations. And so much more volatile. And yet still so much more tame than that if the pictured boys.
Thought-provoking.
