Just for fun, while I was walking the dog, I picked several nice dandelion blooms. I put them in a shot glass with paper towel to hold the water. This morning they opened up again and are beautiful! Who knew? Second day for them.

You can smoke Dandelions. Seriously people collected the leaves and cured them during WWII and used them as a sort of Hamburger Helper to stretch out a tobacco ration.
About 40 years ago, my late dad went on a winemaking flurry. One of his interesting vintages was dandelion wine. While I wouldn't have wanted it with fresh trout, it wasn't bad, a worthwhile experience. I think the alcohol content was minimal, but it wasn't nearly as bitter as I expected. He made many other, better wines including various fruit wines including the inevitable grapes. It's only a weed if we think it's a weed; that's pleasant dandelion bouquet.
