Mark Irwin gave us a nice. St. Paddy's day surprise with a blog entry on new lines coming in 2017.

I'm not often tempted by new Petersons, but this 999 in the Waterford line is very appealing.

The 2017 POY is also very appealing, mimicking a 1906 shape. Alas, no p-lip.

And no 2017 SPD tobacco on this side of the pond. :(
Yeah, my feelings exactly.
The XL25 in the Waterford line... I've wanted a Sherlock Holmes/The Strand shape for some time, but I think I'll go for the shape in this Waterford line instead. Beautiful pipe.

And that Pipe Of The Year.... I do believe I'm going to try to snag one of those too! I love it!

Anthony, that pipe in the pic is amazing. I've never seen something like that with those light curves...Oh....Yeah...
But it's an xl? Meaning extra large?

It's the same shape as Peterson's Sherlock Holmes/The Strand pipe. As for the XL, they are quite hefty in size, but not as large as say the B42 shape which is quite a handful. I have a few XL90 and I love them.

I like the freshening of the brand with these new takes and new takes on older designs. I'll be interested to see where Peterson comes down on pricing. I think they'll get a nice bounce in sales when they begin to distribute these broadly. These new ones also boost current owners with their older designs which gain some desirability in seniority. The St. Pats pipes for 2017 seem to have hit a receptive market among Forums members.

Shame enough, can't afford owning these high-end Petes so I went cheap and had me a brand new standard Peterson Aran classic med.sized briar mod,15 in order to smoke some flakes and ready rubbed in it .Total spent $70.

Good to have a stock so I have got nr 3, 91 and 103 of these 2017 Pipe of the year.

I have smoked nr 103 - it is a good pipe.

Wow. Those are great looking. I like the POY a lot.
I liked the Clontarf line too. It is great they are reaching out with an affordable line of pipes.
