Falcons - EBay
Got these beauties off EBay, no one else bid.

The description and photos were exactly as it is.

It arrived very quickly today, I spent the afternoon on them.
Boy the rusticated one was heavely smoked, and loved.

I spent two hours reaming the bowl with my Butner reamer.

And an hour cleaning the metal humidor. It was worth it it's a bobby dazzler.

I thought it might be beyond my humble abilities to bring it to its new life. That cake in the bowl was like iron and the tar in the humidor was only able to be removed with alcohol, and whipes.

I smoked it tonight, previous owner smoked Condor, a little ghosting.

It's a brilliant pipe, they don't make bowls like that anymore.
The second Falcon hardly needed any effort, a little reaming. I am smoking it tomorrow.
The stand is far better than I thought it was going to be and most useful.
Great addition to my pipe collection.
Yes I am an eBay bottom feeder, but have to cut the cloth! On a tight budget, now I am medically retired.

"Good pipes and a great stand, love them."
George, I should think after spending two hours to ream one bowl I don't doubt you love them very much. Nice clean up chum :puffy:
Regards,
Jay.

Thanks it took a lot of sweat, must have been a 1960's Falcon stamped FD16 under humidorm. Don't think it was ever cleaned.

The cake was like iron, able to do top of bowl relatively okay but the middle and bottom was very difficult. The inside of the humidom had very thick tar.

But the previous owner smoked it because he liked the pipe and the way she smoked.

As I do now.

Thanks for all your comments.
Kind regards George

George, a tip for future estate pipes, if you get cake as thick as in one of your Falcons then a Senior type reamer would make the task a breeze. I wouldn't even attempt to remove that much cake with a British Buttner, they are designed for weekly/monthly 'trimming' of the cake. A Senior is designed for very thick, stubborn cake and would have cleaned your bowl in a few minutes.
Regards,
Jay.
