After reading Mr. G.L. Peace's article not to long ago about breaking in a new pipe, I just had to

have a new brier to break in. I always love breaking in a new pipe, so I ordered an unfinished pot

from PipesandCigars.com. An inexpensive pipe, but quit a lovely one. After smoking a few bowls, I

think I'll rub her with some carnauba wax.

That's an interesting idea. I don't remember reading the article but I would assume the grain would pop eventually after prolonged smoking.

That is a great shape. Nice choice topD. I like carnuba on a bare briar. It darkens just slightly at first but the deeper golds and reds only come after a couple years of smoking.

Very nice pipe and an interesting idea too. I hope you'll show us the after image after waxing. Let us know how she smokes too (I assume it's a she based on the nice curves).

I have an unfinished Sav that turned a reddish brown with nice grain. Hadn't thought of waxing it. Your pipe will look great after a few smokes.
