Is it just me or is this the ugliest Castello you've ever seen? Im curious how this puppy made it off the line.

That thing doesn't look rusticated so much as just plain diseased.

Those older Sea Rocks did have a unique rustification but that one looks buffed. They are usually coveted by the Castello faithful, but lacking the original stem will hurt that one. From the stamping, that is a genuine Castello for sure. It is pretty ugly...

(I wonder what the SC 84 stamp means?)

Its a shame because Castello makes some of the most beautiful rusticated pipe. I bet she might have been a real gem before her "restoration"

That is a hawkbill - Castello's shape 84. This is what the 84 marking means. I am not sure what SC means though.

Wait, I see now that SC indicates the size of the pipe before Castello started using the K system. See http://briarblues.com/castello.htm

It definitely looks like the rustication has been worn down over the years. I'm guessing someone buffed it so much it wore down the rustication. It definitely looks like it was enjoyed by someone for many years.
