I most definitely agree, especially after you have been aging it for a while and you can't wait to try it.

The only fresh "tin" I have opened so far is a tub of PA but it was surely very aromatic and rich smelling compared to a pouch :)

Despite my love of anything Latakia, I get the tingles from that characteristic ketchup McClellands Va smell. That said, my favourite tin aroma's come from aromatic blends; what can I say, they smell damn good.

Best ever tin note for me was Solani 633 Va/Per flake. It was unlike anything I'd ever smelled. Pity that it was too strong for me. So I put it away to await some future date when I'll try it again...
Gotta love those freshly opened tins.

Idk, any balkan blend smells scrumptious when first opened. But one of the best parts of being a pipe smoker is the first scent of a freshly opened tin. Heck, when I cant smoke, I crack open my pouch every once in awhile to get a sniff. :D

completely agree rigmedic, I haven't had the penzance I got a couple days ago, but have smelled it several times a day. Can't wait until I finally try it.

I really like opening UF tins. They are so neatly packaged with a little golden sticker and graphics of tobacco leaves on the wrapping.

I opened my free tin of Sutliff #5 and it smelled like Hell. I still ahven't smoked any.Can anyone here tell me if it's any good? It was the first time my wife and I agreed on a tin aroma being awful. She hates the smell of my English blends in the tin but likes the smell of the smoke. I love the smell of Latakia in the tin. I could chop it into lines and snort it, it smells so good, but this one, we both went Gaahh! WTF!

Oh yes indeed. Can be a delight!

I popped an at least 2 year old tin of St. James Flake yesterday. Purchased a year ago, the B&M owner felt she'd had it for a little over a year.

1st time for me with this particular flake and it is very tasty. Tin note puts me in mind of the air just before it rains. Taste is of a mellow dark Va with just a whisper of the Perique. I know the manufacturer notes say generous on the Perique, but I just get the hint of it myself.
Obligatory tobacco porn.

That would be like walking out of a room with a bunch of naked Cheerleaders sprawled out in it, and telling them you'd see them tomorrow. 8O
