I stopped for gas at a Native American Indian convenience store. They own a few hundred thousand acres where I live. They have a very large casino, and 2 smaller, with a third being built in my hometown. In their stores they have always sold mm cobs, filters, pipe cleaners, but never pipe tobacco. This morning when I went inside to pay for my gas I noticed they increased the pipe selling section to include a large tobacco section which was full of the codger brands, in different sizes, and about 10 different brands of off brands I'd never heard of. They also had Drew Estates in different flavors. I asked the manager why they did this and his answer was.
"We have seen an increase in pipe smoking and we wanted to fill the demand." He also mentioned that in the future, if the trend increases, they will add more in the way of pipes and tobacco.
It is also the only place within 50 miles from my home where I can still buy Zippo lighter fluid.

I say good for them. They may be the piper's last best hope one of these days. Not only do they not have to put up with the ridiculous tax burdens all the regular retailers have to pass on to us, they seem to have a more realistic, less PC BS outlook. If you choose to use tobacco, the health risks are on YOU. If you choose to gamble, it is YOUR responsibility to be an adult with your finances. They are simply providing businesses many people wish to patronize.

Seeing as the pipe and tobacco originated with Native American tribes, it is only fitting that they should revive the practice on their own ground. Since the reservations have sovereignty separate from other national local governments, they may well go their own way. This seems a thoroughly logical trend for the tribes to use as a revenue stream. You might say, they invented this.

Great find Indiana! I hope you bought a bit to show good faith and interest in their investment. Either way you have a place to buy in person and that is saying something.

I asked at my local Indian store, but they just looked at me kind of puzzled like.

Columbus became confused too, and that's why they ended up calling indigenous North American people Indians. The world was round, but not that small.
