I have chased a pipe made by legendary U.S. carver Mike Butera for some time and was delighted today when smokingpipes had two estates available for purchase, and two Royal Classics (Gold) to boot.
Both were made in 1991. The first has been smoked and the second one is unsmoked.
The measurement details for Dublin #1 are:
Length: 6.10 in./154.94 mm.

Weight: 2.40 oz./68.04 g.

Bowl Height: 2.31 in./58.67 mm.

Chamber Depth: 1.87 in./47.50 mm.

Chamber Diameter: 0.94 in./23.88 mm.

Outside Diameter: 1.76 in./44.70 mm.
The details for Dublin #2 are:
Length: 6.09 in./154.69 mm.

Weight: 2.00 oz./56.70 g.

Bowl Height: 1.97 in./50.04 mm.

Chamber Depth: 1.54 in./39.12 mm.

Chamber Diameter: 0.82 in./20.83 mm.

Outside Diameter: 1.79 in./45.47 mm.

Congrats. Those are rare as hens' teeth -- glad you were able to snag them. You can definitely see the Castello influence on the second one.

Stunning, especially the second one. Now stuff 'em full of Deerstalker and get on with it. I'm dying to know how it tastes. :worship:

Nice score!
I did not know until recently that Butera cigars are the same as Mike Butera the pipe maker. IMO Butera cigars are not only one of the best cigars on the market period, they are certainly one of the most underrated and best kept secrets in the industry. They are hard to find in most markets but well worth the search.

Such beautiful pipes! Apparently Butera does a little bit of everything, tobacco, pipes and cigars.

Both pipes 6 plus inches, which would account for the increased weight (to me 2 plus oz is increased weight-LOL).
Excellent grain, and the condition looks very fine.
I've always been impressed with smokingpipes as far as sending estates nearly fully restored. You can count on them to send them totally cleaned and polished.
Congrats to you and enjoy--these should be excellent for the 'English' blends.

Allan, in my world anything up to 80 or 90 grams is a clencher.
If I was a little guy like you I would probably clench only cobs.

Congratulations. Butera pipes are legendary. In reading older issues of the Empheris, he was very highly regarded. Similar in reputation to current day Cooke or Roush pipes. Enjoy!

It is a requirement for all lawyers to have good teeth in order to take a bite out of their clients' finances.
Well, I was trying to think of a good response to yours, Peck, but I think that Gigger got it perfectly!

Those are gorgeous pipes. And the great feeling of getting a pipe that you have been "hunting for" cannot be beat as well. Hope they are as good to smoke as they are to look upon.

That birdseye on the bowl top looks deep enough to dive into it. That one looks like it will have a very good tactile feel to it.
