And was pretty excited when I opened it up. L’Anatra Della Uovo D’oro 3 egg. Never paid any attention to L’Anatra Pipes until I got a great deal from Bruce on one a while back. They are excellent pipes.

is that a duck figure on top of the stem?
It is. L'Anatra, literally meaning "the duck" in Italian, put a little silver duck head on the stem of some of their pipes. Seems a bit odd, I suppose, but it's one of the things I really like about mine.
Here's my olivewood 2 egg.

Seems odd but funny to watch  Puff it, and let the child in you play around

Gotta love a duck!
(Mine was really slow to break-in; musta been a hundred smokes before it lost that "green", raw wood taste. Anybody else experience this with L'Anatra?)

I had a 3 egg "gigante" squat tomato with oval shank.

It was one of my first nice pipes, way before I realized I preferred them much smaller. Smoked like a champ though, and I still look at their pipes when new ones come in at SP. I think they do a great job with getting the most grain out of their wood.

I like the grain (who wouldn't) and the balance with the shorter stem, a beauty.
