Didn't have a Blue Riband in the collection. Took a flier on this one since the pictures were terrible and no one was bidding until the last moment. Turns out it might have some special characteristics. Markings are: Comoys(no apostrophe)---BLUE RIBAND; topside, Straight Grain; bottom, Pat. Pending; left side, number 28, football-like Made in England. Also appears to have the Comoy's Inter Steel system on the mortise which Comoy used on some of the high grade pipes. Unfortunately the stem is a replacement so no metal in the tenon. Best guess by me: Made somewhere between 1938 and late forties. Anyone know a pipeperson who could made a three piece C stem with a metal insert??!! All comments and any further history appreciated. Hoppes

It looks like a former owner used a sharp-tipped knife to habitually empty/ream the pipe, too, eventually cutting a hole through the bottom of the chamber.

Yes, I forgot to mention the repair on the bottom. It is actually back somewhat from the center of the bowl--appears to be quite old but a nice job. Can't tell anything from inside. Hoppes
