I assume IMP Meerschaums are good pipes?

Looking to get my first Meer. Looking at IMP. After reading some of the other threads on meerschaums, I didn't quite hear "bad" things about IMP, but the lack of being able to identify the carver "may" be an issue.

    Are IMP's a quality brand?

One of the best. Here's one I used to have.

I don't own one (yet) but it's my understanding that they're supposed to be very good quality.

If by chance you haven't read the bit at the top of the IMP page at SPC, it explains a little about their operation.

I especially like their reverse calabash models, but they're a bit pricey.

Interesting. So the IMP operation is like your average briar pipe manufacturer, say Savinelli, or Peterson. Thus, the lack of a carver's name shouldn't be a reason to worry; after all, when was the last time someone saw a 'Carved by Luigi' stamp on a Sav?

Hmm, now I want an IMP pipe!

A few years ago when IMP went under, prior to reopening obviously, SPC got hundreds of their large pipes and sold them for under $150. Many with sterling silver accents.

I have 6 IMP’s, all have a Delrin mortice AJs acrylic bits. Fine smokers, and light weight. Well crafted.
