I just wanna throw this out there if anyone wants to make my 42nd birthday truly spectacular. I got tickets for the Columbus show in September and it sure would be nice to arrive in this!

Rush - Red Barchetta
My uncle has a country place

That no one knows about.

He says it used to be a farm,

Before the Motor Law.

And on Sundays I elude the Eyes,

And hop the Turbine Freight

To far outside the Wire,

Where my white-haired uncle waits.
Jump to the ground

As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline.

Run like the wind,

As excitement shivers up and down my spine.

Down in his barn,

My uncle preserved for me an old machine,

For fifty-odd years.

To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.
I strip away the old debris

That hides a shining car.

A brilliant red Barchetta

From a better, vanished time.

I fire up the willing engine,

Responding with a roar.

Tires spitting gravel,

I commit my weekly crime...
Wind-

In my hair-

Shifting and drifting-

Mechanical music-

Adrenalin surge...
Well-weathered leather,

Hot metal and oil,

The scented country air.

Sunlight on chrome,

The blur of the landscape,

Every nerve aware.
Suddenly ahead of me,

Across the mountainside,

A gleaming alloy air-car

Shoots towards me, two lanes wide.

I spin around with shrieking tires,

To run the deadly race,

Go screaming through the valley

As another joins the chase.
Drive like the wind,

Straining the limits of machine and man.

Laughing out loud

With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan.

At the one-lane bridge

I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.

Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside

Nice, but out of my price range for a gift.
Is your lack of funds the result of you hoarding the worlds supply of Penzance? I just don't get Hobie

Can't help you with the car but I hope you have a good time at the show. Rush is and always will be my favorite band! I had the pleasure of meeting Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in Oakland on their Test For Echo tour. Neil Peart is my greatest inspiration in my drumming.

Neil is IMHO the greatest drummer of all time. I saw them once before at Blossom Music Center near Akron OH. I have never met them and I know Neil is too shy for meet and greets but he is phenomenal. I am so glad that one female DJ from Cleveland in the early 70's decided to play more of their stuff in regard to Working Man. That first album fit Cleveland so well. Then Neil joined and we have an orchestra of a three piece band. Truly amazing.

Soon as I hit the Mega Millions
Puffy I'm, not gonna hold my breath. Glad to see you're up late. Or maybe It's early for you. I know you just celebrated a birthday too but I didn't catch where you were from.

It sort of reminds me of an Austin Healey 3000 with a hood scoop and would make a pretty fair birthday present...wishing you well! :D

Enjoy the show! I've seen Rush twice and they put on a great concert, definitely one of my favorite bands.

I love it! Do you know the story behind Red Barchetta?
I sat on Neil's drum kit at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Ohio a few years ago. Sticks were laying on a snare. The only thing that kept me from pounding out some riffs was a complete lack of any drum skills.....
One of my best friends and long time Rush fans is also a drummer. We were talking about Neils kit last week. He said a lot of drummers have big kits, but Neil plays every piece.

Happy Birthday! Have you thought about looking for a model car like that? It would make an awesome pipe rest.

Well it is not the real thing but nevertheless dear to my heart. My wife thought enough to have this picture commissioned for me.

I am a very content and humble man this evening. I might have to smoke a little GL Pease Sextant to commission my Storient PM2012 Meer.
