I have to admit... at first I wasn't sure I wanted to see what was "found in the back of my closet." But curiosity got the best of me.

The Latakia has fallen way into the background. It has become a sweet, heavy oriental forward blend. Maybe I'll hang onto that bag of Penzance I grabbed at P&C a few weeks ago.

Oooh-la-la. Sometimes neglect is a wonderful thing. Set aside a time and place and revel in the magic. This is the time for your favorite 904's.

Well, we knew it couldn't be anything else. What are you up to on those now, 45-50?
Eighteen so far, but the goal is thirty-one. Could have been one of these, but only one is for latakia, and it is blend specific.

After seeing this post I went and dug into the tobacco cellar...hoping and praying that I had stocked up on some of this great leaf....yup, just found a cool 4 or 5 lbs of it and looking at my labels on the jars they are all around 9 or 10 years old now...I think I will join you for a smoke Embers :puffy:

I enjoy your love-hate relationship with Penzance, Duane.

In the past year I have opened two tins of Penzance from 2007. Neither had crystals. But yours was opened and then jarred, so maybe that plays a role in the crystal formation. I prefer Penzance aged many years because it mellows and develops a sweetness like you mention above.
Example of aged-in-tin 11 years vs a jar.

I'm betting Duane keeps track of these in Excel.....
I've never owned a computer.

It's the latakia. Fresh it tastes just like Pirate Kake, and lat bombs aren't my thing anymore. That Penzance was when I was still only smoking lat blends over a decade ago, and if I remember right, I should still have six more of those jars as I bought four 8 ounce bags at that time under $100.
