I am sitting at the Port of Houston waiting to have a truck jump-started so I can load it. As I know it will be a long wait I walked over to the edge of the pier to have a closer look at the ships tied up there.
I had a Stanwell clenched in my teeth as I was looking up at the superstructure of the closest ship. I saw the side door of the bridge open up and a fellow walked out. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a pipe, packed and lit it.
I let out a loud whistle to get his attention and then held up my own pipe in salute. He grinned and raised his own. We were too far apart to converse but in our own way we stood and enjoyed a few minutes of peaceful smoking before he returned to his duties on the bridge and I returned here to my truck to await the mechanic.
