I love the older actors like Humphrey Bogart, William Holden, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Robert Shaw (Force Ten from Navarone and Jaws!), James Mason, Clint Eastwood, Warren Oates (underrated as hell, maybe the most underrated of all time), Richard Burton, and many, many others.
Leaving them aside who are your favorites of the actors who are currently working?
I think Denzel Washington, Jeff Bridges, and Anthony Hopkins, are the finest actors of our generation. All three deliver performances that just amaze me.
What say you?

I believe we have a couple or so generations represented in the forum. Any specific generation your asking about?

Living and retired: Maureen O'Hara
Dead: John Wayne and Peter O'Toole

I second (actually third) Anthony Hopkins. I would also add Morgan Freeman and, for his own particular charms, Vince Vaughn.

I don't know how modern I can get with this one, but I'll throw in a few:
Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard in Star Trek stuff

9/10 of the MASH cast, any will do but of course Alan Alda

Robert Hardy as Sigfried Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small
and, not Mr. T

The OP's three of Denzel, Jeff Bridges, and Tony Hopkins are also excellent choices.

Michael Caine, Gerard Butler (hard to beat a Glasgow boy in acting), Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Brendan Gleeson, Sean Bean (forever a favorite if all he ever did was Sharpe's), Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman.
Russell Crowe has put in some good tough guy performances, espcially in LA Confidential, but is kinda lacking in serious dramatic roles. There are moments, though, where the way way he looks, speaks, his timing, the way he looks at people, reminds me greatly of Richard Burton. I would like to see him in a Burton role.

Gene Wilder, Harrison Ford, Nathan Fillion, and Adam Baldwin are a few under rated actors that often get over looked. Mickey Rourke, Don Johnson as well.

No second thoughts about it... Robert Duvall and Anthony Hopkins.

Obviously there are others, but if they are in a movie I'll watch it without any reservations.
Older actors that are deceased would be Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn (simply for her shear beauty).

Again... many others.

Ed Harris and Harry Dean Stanton are always good to watch.

A lack of females in most of these lists, so add Joan Allen, Ellen Barkin and Cate Blanchett.
