    Nice

Nowhere in the world will such a brotherly feeling of confidence be experienced as amongst those who sit together smoking their pipes

Now we'll have to put up with all the jackasses who want to dress up like this lady. I like seeing a pipe in pop culture, just can't stand Burton and the fallout from his films.

On the plus side, she ain't too hard on the eyes.

I admit I had to go search out a few more photos. She's quite the bombshell from Paris.

That's a Peregrine Falcon. Looks like CGI.

Right. A falcon is more likely to pluck your eyes out than light your pipe.

It's kind of meta, though. In the film, she IS the falcon, so I guess here she's just lighting her own pipe.

chasingembers, your insouciant attitude towards women never ceases to make me chuckle.

I hope I can someday reach the level of peace and enlightenment you muse have found once the demon of fleshy desires are exorcised.

For now, I am very much tormented by those demons hahaha.

prehaps I will hopefully try to train the hawk so it can fetch me some of that aged black frigate that chasingembers has in his boat, if that does not work, then hopefully the hawk will only gouge one of my eyes, then i can wear an eye patch.

Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands came out when I was a young, impressionable, high school lad. I've always liked most of Mr. Burton's work. Might have had something to do with Winnona Ryder back then though - high school age hormones and all

@mackeson I'm very much with you on Winnona Ryder, I too watched those films at an impressionable age. She still looks great in Stranger Things. I think it's her voice as much as her looks.

I've not really enjoyed anything that Mr Burton has done recently, I found the overuse of Johnny Depp irritating. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was an abomination.

My daughter wants to go in and see this film, I guess I'll just have to go with her and check out Eva's technique. I presume that's just the charring light...

You guys crack me up! She is a pretty lady - couple that with smoking a pipe and that just increased her standing, lol. They made her look very frumpy in the movie, or at least in that screen grab. I will say the trailer looked decent, with a good story and plenty of action/surprises to keep adults entertained as well as the younger audience.

@chasingembers I keep hearing of this Black Frigate stuff, Ill need to find me a treasure map and see if I can locate some. Its in a different form form the ribbon cut I'm used to so might take me a little tinkering to figure out how to properly use that treasure.

Eva green is cool looking, and a good choice for a Tim Burton film as he seems to like his characters with an unusual look. Eva looks a lot like Charlotte Rampling, a British model in the 70s and 80s, and an actress still preforming. They could be related, but I don't think they are.

cossackjack: That's a Peregrine Falcon. Looks like CGI.

That Peregrine is both a falcon and a parrot according to recent DNA analysis! (no longer grouped with the rest of the "hawks")

The Simpsons, a fine arbiter of all things cultural and scientific, included of moment of this new scientific discovery in a 2014 TV episode. One of the storylines involved falconry, with Bart and a new kid at Springfield Elementary, voiced by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) reviving the school's falconry club. Later in the episode, a dopey falconer in a Star Trek shirt tells his falcon -- after the bird repeats what he says and goes 'rawwkk'... "You are NOT a parrot." (contradicting new taxonomy)

If there is a weird role, she will find it. One of my favorite actresses, despite the dreadful Penny Dreadful. If you have not seen her in The Dreamers, do not miss it, uncut.

A dashing looking woman, an adjective usually used for male actors but appropriate here. Now the question is, will the film get any general distribution. So many movies go to CD and/or streaming and never reach that many people. My point is, if this one hit the multiplexes and was popular, women could take up pipes by the millions.

Remember a scene in a Hollywood movie that showed Clark Gable taking off his shirt and displaying that he did not wear an undershirt killed sales of mens undershirts for a decade or two, as JFK abandoning wearing hats damaged the hat industry permanently until everyone came back to ball caps (not a flattering look for many).

So if this lithe and dangerous looking woman gets to smoke her pipe in a theater near most of us, the pipe market could take a decisive bump upwards, and the FDA could have a whole new interest group on their case. Is that bad? Honey, can I borrow your McClellands Dark Star?

By the way, I'm no ornithologist but I do enjoy spotting birds, and I say that's no parrot, hawk, or falcon, but a Rock Dove, a pigeon, which are highly domesticated and willing learners of tricks, and perfectly suitable for lighting your pipe for a few nice kernels of corn.

@snowyowl: Peregrines have more DNA commonality with Parrots than with Raptors & other birds, suggesting a common ancestor.

    @mso:
    Peregrine

    Rock Dove

Rock Dove is not even close to the CGI bird in the OP's picture.

@mso489 This movie is going to be in every cinema with multiple screens. It's going to be the biggest family movie for this time of year since it really doesn't have any competition right now.

    Opens in theaters Sept 30th

@tuold I had no idea she was in Penny Dreadful - I've been eyeballing that at the local video store. Might have to pick it up now.

She also portrayed Vesper Lynd in the Bond film, "Casino Royale." I am not aware of any other acting roles the perigrine parrot appeared in.
