I am very fond of large bent bulldogs, but can't get my hand on a dunhill 4108 to compare to my current pipes. Does anyone have a lpic of a 4108 next to a 5108 or a Ferndown 3* bent bulldog or even Ashton Lx.

That Ashton is what I've been looking for for a loooong time. Wow.
3,3,4,4,9438 for reference. Sold my Ferndowns & Ashtons as too big.

Really need to see it against th larger pipes not the smaller ones.

There's not much difference between a 4108 and a 5108. I was told the Group Number is according to the size of the block of briar used for making the pipe than the dimensions of the pipe/bowl etc. I have seen smaller Group 5's and Bigger Group 4's.
After doing some research the difference between the size of an 4108 and 5108 is between 10%? Dont quote me on that though, my math is terrible :nana:

BTW I got the 4108 Al suggested to you on ebay. April 2001 bought 4108 Shell Briar complete with Box and Sock.
Cheers,

Chris

A dimensional comparison says the 5108 is about 15% bigger than the 4108. But the best way to get a real world feel is to take the dimensions off a pipe in the size you like and then compare them to the pipes in the links Chris gave.
