Not my area of expertise, but late 1960's and early 1970's - 1982,
"In the late 1960's and early 1970's the company began the use of the K grading. The upper case large K, was used for non smooth pipes to designate size. For smooth pipes to indicate a combination of grain quality and size. These are also the years that Castello switched from machine made pipes that were hand finished to completely hand made pipes.
Switch from large K to small k in an oval. In 1982 the company changed from the use of the large upper case K grading to a small lower case k within an oval ( 2 k or greater ) or circle for single k grades."

The k’s are lower case in an oval, so the pipe is post 1982. In 2007, the Kino stamp replaced the Carlo Scotti stamp.

I should have said smaller font, not lowercase, my bad, but the oval is a dead giveaway. And thanks Mike for all the work you have done over the years in ferreting out and sharing so much wonderful Castello history..

Just a little heads up, for something to watch for, probably, in the next 12 - 18 months. While in Cantu I re addressed the topic of writing a book about Castello with Franco. I wondered why he had hesitated my request, until he explained. A well known Italian journalist will, later this year, start to pen just such a book. IF it is anything like the current smaller dealers book, it will be fantastic.
As far as what I have done ..... I have done very little. Everything ( pretty much ) was available for any and all if they were willing to go to pipe shows and chat with some Castello collectors and the well known dealers. I have added very little new information.
After spending a day in Cantu, at Castello, I know it should have been 3 or 4 days. Far too much to take in over 6 - 8 hours. FWIW, to any interested .... the video of my visit to Castello will be on You Tube at 9 am this am. Not as much as I'd have liked, as much of what I took did not format correctly. But you will get a little taste of an amazing day, and the top thing on my bucket list.
Regards
