Title says it all. Doing the rounds on Ebay and came across this Russian piece of briar art. Wish i had $1800 bucks to throw around. My birthday is in a couple weeks, anyone want to start a bday fund for my own free pipe project? Haha, j/k,this pipe is ridiculous though. I normally couldn't see myself ever buying a pipe and not smoking it, but this one would really test my resolve to ever light it up.

A pipe like that is so not my style or taste, however, it really is an amazing work of art.

Cool. Peck, what do you think of the pipe, too far or good looking piece of smoking briar? The first pipe on your post with the pencil and benjamin is butt ugly but would make a good mantle piece, IMO. I just love the concept of a rough (beautiful) sandblast shedding via the zipper into the refined smooth texture underneath. The horn shape is also perfect for the concept.

I think both pipes are amazing from an artistic perspective. The zipper pipe is the only one I could actually ever see myself smoking though. This carver has done a few of these zipper pipes - if you go to scandpipes you will see one other.

Yeah, that is what i meant, i obviously think they are both great pieces of artwork, but i agree that the one with the zipper is the only one worth smoking or being seen smoking, lol. I'll check out scandpipes, thanks for the info. Too rich for my blood, but always worth a look.

Here are some other pipes by the same carver:

What the hell is this?

He also does some classic shapes:

I actually like the roll of bills. Pretty it ain't, but funny it is, and I have a thing for humorous pipes when it involves cleverness and skill, but not toilets, revolvers, legs, boots or other such tired ideas.

As someone with 10 thumbs who has only just graduated to matchstick men, I can but gasp at the artistic ability and craftsmanship that are shown here, especially the main zipper. It's so clever! But - as others have said - I don't own any pipes I don't/can't smoke. That might change if I ever win the lottery, but not in the foreseeable future! I hope that the maker gets the acclaim and rewards he deserves for some amazing pieces.

I was really digging a few of those unusual designs until I was lovestruck by the classics. Beautiful workmanship.

Those are just amazing. The iguana pipe is incredibly realistic. All his work is so unique, even the classic shapes scream for attention. I love the sandblasts on those.

Amazing skill in wood carving, and fun to look at. It's too much a wood sculpture rather than a pipe for

my smoking pleasure, but it may well be worth the price to someone. If I were in the presence of someone

smoking one of the zipper pipes, could I refrain from sidling up and saying, "Excuse me, but I think your fly is down."
