Here's an oval shank Canadianesque pipe I am doing for a member. Just laid on the under stain. that will be pretty well all sanded away . Should soak into the softer parts and bring out the grain. Not overly happy with the bit and may go to one that's a good bit longer.

Yep, a bit longer stem and you'll have a Lumberman. (Oval shanked Canadian) I look forward to seeing the finished pipe.

That does seem a very nice French-feeling take on the Canadian, Uncle A--an Acadien, perhaps? :clap: Would look great with a nice rounded-edge saddle bit in Cumberland or marbled acrylic for a lumberman style as well, IMHO. A Chacom is pictured below:

Arthur, it looks awesome, I can't wait until it's mine! I like romeowood's suggestion on the rounded edge saddle bit, and the name for that matter, also the red tortoise looks great, too!
