Not one I'm very familiar with is this Comet from the 40's I recently picked up. Came with 2 bowls, one is an aluminum covered briar bowl called The Radiator and the second is a nicely shaped briar bowl, each comes with their own aluminum screw insert.

They look great, as novelty pipes. But for the historic value you scored big time. Hey, and who knows, they may smoke like champs.
Congratulations!

Very helpful, thanks. I loaded the briar bowl with 1959 Edgeworth Sliced and it was awesome, the flavors came roaring through with that open draw, probably will ruin me from smoking it in any other pipe! :) Did not smoke hot can't wait to try the radiator bowl on it to see how it compares.

My gripe with my Kirsten is the lousy draw. I also have an old meer with a lousy draw, but not keep the former owners from fully enjoying it. Perhaps I should ignore the draw and smoke these pipes? Anyway, glad your Comet fits your style. What a cool pipe!

Great find, Fish! I'm fascinated by metal pipes. I have 1 Kirsten, 1 Viking, and 6 Falcons. The Comet and Aristocob are on my list.

That is a very cool artifact of the days when aluminum was promoted as a wonder metal.
