How do cherrywood pipes smoke? I really like pipes with a bamboo shank,how they look. I saw this one on smoking pipes but it says that its made of cherrywood

I have an old Ropp Supreme. It is a fine smoker, but like most pipes made out of cherrywood the stem has become loose with age. I think it'll tighten up as I smoke it more.
