Hello All,
Just opened a tin of Frog Morton Cellar, about to go try it for the first time in my smoking shed. I have put the remainder of the tin into a couple jars, and one of them will likely be in the cellar for at least a couple years. So my question is, when storing this tobacco long term, should I include the barrel stave that comes in the tin with the tobacco in the jar, or remove it for long term cellaring?
Anyone have any experience/recommendations with this particular quandary?
I'll go puff, and be back in a few! Thanks!
Frank

The barrel stave is part of the character of the blend. I'm not sure it will impart much more flavor over time, but unless you are short of jars, I'd leave it in there. Pipe smoking is a lot about ritual and imagination. I try not to be too practical or literal about it. When else can you relax and exercise eccentricities?
