   Stopped at a flea market/junk shop a while back and picked up a CD rack I though could be modified to hold pipes. Cost me $2.00 and some scrap lumber.

   Excellent.

   Some cherry or walnut stain and that thing will look bespoke.

   I think no stain is better.The idea seems nice i whould add a wood side on front to avoid pipes can jump outside

   It hasn't been varnished or anything yet. Gotta go get some. Think I will stain it an Oak or Early American Maple color,something similar to the color of the desk it's sitting on.

   The piece that the bowls rest on is angled,back is lower than the front. I did put a piece across the back side to keep the pipes from sliding off.
