Who likes it? Who hates it? Why?
I have not ever been a big fan, but saw one recently that i thought was really interesting, so I commissioned a piece. I suspect many hate the shape (Harris, are you out there?), but would be interested in your thoughts.

peck, never been a fan of that shape. I can appreciate the way some carvers can get a gorgeous cross cut and birdseye on both sides. I have seen some real pretty ones. I think that people like them because the way the grain comes out on them. They look like they have decent sized walls so they should be a good smoker. Who did you commission and what size are you going for?

The original blowfish created by Lars Ivarsson was a beautiful, graceful and delicate display of flowing grain married to form. I don't think this is *the* original, but it looked much like the one here:

As I recall, the original blowfish had a shank that was skewed a little to one side, to evoke the sense of the blowfish tail as it prepares to attack its dinner!

peck, after the picture you showed me I don't hate it , just not my cup of tea. We talked about why, but as long as you love it that is all that matters.

That Lars Iverson Longshank Blowfish is probably the best looking blowfish shape I have ever seen. Still not my flavor for style but that one is a looker.

I am not fond of the shape but I know lots of quality workmanship was involved in its creation. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I don't know, I really like it. The same way you gotta love an English bulldog, you just have to appreciate the ugliness. Nice pipe and hope it smokes well for ya!

Peck I'm happy for you man.
You'd make quite the character holding that piece of briar. Maybe in a dark parlor, with an expensive but older suit and a top hat.

I like it. Its got an entropic flair thing going on. Grains gorgeous.

I showed my wife. She has suggested that, instead of Tormented Blowfish, maybe it should be called Infected Ballsack. :rofl:
