The wife (of 24 years!) and I spent the day in Boston to celebrate my upcoming birthday and of course I made it a point to visit L. J. Peretti's. After a nice lunch at Fire and Ice, we walked around Boston Common, did some shopping (for her) and took in the sights on a beautiful sunny day, and finally made our way to the venerable Boston tobacconist.
Here I am, on the right, about to enter the store:
Here are some random shots of inside the store:
Here is a picture of the scale they use to weight out the tobacco; the gentleman told me it was made in 1802. You can see a brass weight in one of the pans:
I bought 8oz each of Royal Blend, Park Square, and Cuban Mixture, a 4oz cake of Thanksgiving Day Blend, a Peretti Select Bulldog pipe and my wife bought a mini-cob because she said she wanted to try pipe smoking once in a while ...
And here we are after the visit:
All in all, a great day! The folks at Peretti's were helpful and very cordial, as always, and shared a few great stories of the history of the place, as they are always glad to do. If you are ever in Boston, you must visit L. J. Peretti's!
