I asked this several years ago, can't find the thread now, and I believe when I did go, I lost the information. I had hoped to buy a pipe there, or at least look at pipes, especially meerschaums. I know of several cigar shops on the Strip, but I asked around and was pointed to a store (Davidoff?) at the Venetian, which had a handful of extremely high-end briars (I don't dislike briar, but I'm not personally a fan of $400+ briar pipes of grand old makes, they're just not my thing). The employee told me their other store at the MGM had some meerschaum pipes. I should have asked them to call; I trekked all the way down to the MGM, where the store is buried deep inside the casino, only to have the puzzled-but-polite employee there explain that, no, as far as they knew, the Venetian store had the meerschaums!
Later this year, I'll be in Las Vegas on vacation again. I'll be on the Strip, and though I don't drive, I can catch taxis or ride services. Are there any stores where I might have a chance at seeing more than about ten pipes, and possibly some meerschaum? I believe I was told in the past that Las Vegas had a Tinder Box, but it seems that if it did, it no longer exists.

No. I just just enjoy the cigar life in Vegas. There are lots of good places to do so. 8O

jonas', tell us if you happen on anything. It would be interesting to know about it. The casinos would seem too high-rent for a really good pipe shop, so it might be a little off the main drag. However, since ashdigger lives there, and he isn't aware of any, it might be a truly long shot.

That IS sad. Thanks for the information. I do enjoy being able to walk around in most main areas, casino bars, etc. with my pipe lit.
I dug through my stuff and, by some miracle, found the list! Here are the entries. Ashdigger, could you give thoughts on these?
Tinder Box

9340 W. Sahara #103

702-363-5576

(Closed when?)
Tobacco Leaf

9400 S. Eastern Ave.

702-897-5977
Tobacco Leaf

7175 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

702-432-3000

(My list notes that these are serious tobacconists, not "smoke shops" with bongs/hookahs)
Tobacco Town Cigars

6870 S. Rainbow Rd. #118

702-614-1100
Tobacco Town Cigars

1000 S. Rampart Blvd #17

702-722-6600

(My list notes that these two are potential spots for estate pipes)
I have no clue how I was able to dig this out of my papers now.

Vegas is not a good pipe town. I live here and there are three Tobacco leafs. the store on Eastern Ave in Henderson has a good selection of pipes. They all have a decent selection of tobacco both tin and bulk. Mr Bills is primarily a head shop but has a good tobacco selection. They usually have about 12-15 briars and Meers. The one on Flamingo is right by the Palms.

The Tobacco Town locations are still there, but they've been purchased by the owner of Tobacco Leaf. They're decent stores with some tins and bulk as well as a dozen or so pipes.
The best shop in town is by far the Tobacco Leaf on Lake Mead. It's about a 15-20min ride from The Strip depending on where you're at on The Strip and what time of day you go. They have the best selection of blends as well as a nice selection of briars (Peterson, Savinelli, Dunhill). They also have a very nice spacious lounge in the back and a bar area upfront with TVs to watch games or what not while having a bowl.
The Mr. Bill's are more head shops than pipe shops. They have a few tins and bulks along with a dozen or so pipes, but there's really no lounge. Not what I think of as a tobacconist.
It's definitely more of a cigar town, but there are pipe people here too.

You all should meet up and hang out. There's a lot more to Vegas once you get past the strip, legal hookers and discount booze...

Vegas Baby!!!
DeathMetal, hookers aren't legal in Las Vegas (Clark County), but they are legal in Nye County (over the Hump to Pahrump) in a "town" called Chrystal.

Good solid pipe/tobacco/cigar shops aren't plentiful even in the largest cities. There are a few in Manhattan, old line shops, but not many in the neighborhoods, or any.

Thanks for the clarification. I always wonder about these things. As they say in Texas, "Hoofers not hookers!" Even the wool sweaters are scared.
