I have a meerschaum with the threaded insert in the stem. The threads in the shank are much larger than the threads on the tenon in the stem. Then tenon was wrapped with teflon pipe tape to make it fit! I also have an estate pipe stem I just got, and it has smaller threads than the meerschaum pipe. I have NOT checked the threads yet with any of my tools, but was curious...
Are there any standards for these threads? Or am I stuck with making my own or what?
