As any fans know, Estate pipes by this carver don't come around too often. The guy, as far as I know, only makes a few dozen pipes per year. There's one currently listed which I'm tempted by. He's my favorite European pipe maker.

I've always wanted to be a fan of his work but I would an inheritance, sugar daddy or some sort of large infusion of cash to own his work. Humble Civil Servants don't have to means for such smokable art. I have admired from

a far for some time though.

He's from Denmark. I heard of him when I watched one of his estates on eBay go for a crazy amount. I read up on him and LOVED the pipes I saw. I currently own one of his. His pipes are sculpture. He's an architect by training, but become a pipe carver. They sell for insane money new, but are more attainable on the secondary market when they come around which isn't often. Look him up. If you like this kinda pipe, he's the best.
Mike, glad I'm not alone! I can't afford his new pipes either, but he does such stunning work!

I've been an admirer of his work for a while. He does beautiful work, just well out of my price range and always has been. He is a very well know danish carver.

I'm also a fan of Lamborghini's, but I'll never be able to afford either.
If I remember correctly from reading an interview with him in 'Pipes and Tobaccos' magazine that most of his pipes are immediately snatched up by rich Chinese collectors.

Yeah Phil, but used Lambos can't be had for $600, but I get your point. I'd heard that also about China. He makes so few pipes they'd be easily absorbed by such a large country.

I promised myself this one for 11.5K if I won the 400M powerball last week. Oh well, I'll win the next one

Yeah that pipe is wicked nice. It's been there for at least a year and a half at that insane price. The butterfly is his rare top grade, but that price is just stupid.

Yeah, that pipe has been repeatedly listed for a long time. Considering the extremely reasonable price I'm amazed it has not sold yet!

To my knowledge, he does not smoke ...
Well ... people in China would not absorb his stuff anymore. He is having a difficult time.

I wouldn't be surprised. His pricepoint is just way too high!! His pipes are stunning, but have no business costing FAR more than S Bang, Tokutomi, and Chonowitsch. He just hasn't been around for long enough to justify his prices in the market. I love his pipes, but would NEVER pay for a new pipe of his.

I have one of his pipes and think he is a master. By the way, it is not correct to say that his prices are higher than Chonowitsch. Comparing similar pipes, a Jess pipe would cost way more, and deservedly so.

Peck, do you believe Kents pipes are competitively priced? I own one now and owned another previously. He is without a doubt a master and his blasts are more reasonable, but his asking prices for smooth pipes are Steep. While they are, in my opinion, masterfully done, it seems you need to be around a lot longer before regularly asking 3k+. High grade S Bangs can be had for that price and maintain their prices on the secondary market while Rasmussens do not.

What I can say is that there are other pipemakers in that range that I tend to be far more drawn to than Kent. Presumably if his pipes stop selling then eventually he will have to adjust his prices, The market will cure the issue, if it exists.
