Highland Sliced + Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout + Stanwell 62 = Heaven!
Recently got a small pouch of HS to try out - the first smoke didn't really grab me, it seemed the casing was too over-the-top or something, it just didn't click with me.
Perhaps it was the pipe, because a few days later I tried it out again in my ever-reliable sweet smoking Stanny 62 and it delivered heavenly delight - deep and broad, with overtones of almond and undertones of caramel, but with enough pure tobacco flavor carried through to tie it all together in glorious harmony.
This stuff is good.
And it was even gooder paired with the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout!
They go together very well!

Barrels that once contained world-famous Kentucky Bourbon lend a sweet hint of caramel and vanilla to dark-roasted malts and finish with the essence of a lightly roasted coffee. The barrel-aged flavors native to Kentucky compliment this complex stout brewed and aged with Haitian coffee to create the bourbon country’s own Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout.
Yummy stuff.
Yet another STG/Orlik baccy that should be imported to the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How would you describe it? Aromatic? What is the flavoring?
It's a classic styled UK flake, has about the same strength and body of Irish Flake, but carries a rather peculiar topping, close to Mick McQuaid ifya know that one - what I get predominantly is a nutty almond, with caramel, and slight traces of fruit - but, it still tastes like tobacco too, and has a great depth, I find.
I'm glad to see the John Sinclair name still in print, but it only comes in 25g pouches.
A while back I did a brief write-up about his brother Robert,

and now have a post in the works for John's history - getting sidetracked while researching, I was off onna tangent all about Tyneside dialect and came across this video, and this thread presents a good place to post it!

Thanks.
I love it, it's a great smoker!

I got it on sale for $80 a couple of years ago from a shop in Denmark,

It's not exactly the best execution of the 62 shape that I've seen, but it performs like a dream.
I think the shape looks best when it has a forward cant, mostly seen on the older pipes, like this one:

...or is "front heavy", like this one:

I think he is more of an evangelist....well..maybe a church historian.
Good one Trailboss!
I agree, too.
I don't really like the "minister" thing, sounds too formal!
...instead of MoT - it should be something like " bakko anorak " !!!

:D

Smoked another bowl this morn, inna different pipe, got more floral hints than last time.
It paired much better with the beer than with coffee though.

It's not as stout as Irish Flake, the McQuaid is indeed closest, but Highland has its own thang goin' on too, a pretty unique and very enjoyable baccy I'd say.
