I've always wanted an early Dunhill of some model but have never wanted to spend the money. I have always had a guilty feeling of smoking an expensive or collectors pipe. If I'm going to spend a significant amount of money on a pipe I want to keep it pristine ! Found this on English EBay. The seller had tried to "correct" the problems but just made them worse. The price was 27 pounds so I figured I'd give it a go. The rim was completely shot--looked like he took a rasp to the top. Most of the markings had been long worn down. This is the kind of pipe that I like to restore. This Dunhill has the following marks: Left side Right Side

A Dunhill MadeinEngland7 114/1

London PatNo417574/34

The inner tube has PatNo 417574

It took a great deal of work but I think the pipe looks reasonably nice and is still smokeable. Was it worth 27 pounds and the effort? Don't know much about Dunhills so all comments and advice are appreciated. Thanks, Hoppes

Very nice job! Wish I had the time and talent to attempt something like that...

Jay: Haven't smoked it yet. I have a Barling that looks almost identical and it smokes great so hoping this will be the same.
Saltedplug: Pipe measures at 6 inches long. I read somewhere that the Model number 114 was called a Bing.{for Bing Crosby?} Don't know how true that is !!

Excellent stuff Hoppes, I will keep my fingers crossed that your bowl doesn't overheat. Certainly a nice restoration mind
Regards,
Jay.
