While rooting around the B&M this afternoon I came across a tin of #6 Mixture that appears to be from early 2000. Can someone confirm the date for me? I have never had this blend but curiosity got the best of me. I know it's been there a while because the clear plastic lid has turned yellow.

There were some other tins that had some age on them as well; like 6-8 years if I ciphered the dates correctly.

Yep, 2000 alright. I have a tin of #1 from 1995. It's amazingly sweet and mellow, but I think the #6, having more Latakia, will be awesome.

Thanks for the confirmation, gents. If I understand the coding on the tins, the first 2 numbers are the blend( in this case Mixture #6), the second 2 numbers are the batch (first batch of 2000?) and the last two numbers are the year. So, this tin will be 15 years old in a month or so.

I think I'll save this for the next pipe club meeting. It should provide some fun for the folks there.
