honestly, I was rather hoping Stanford would win, but as the game progressed, it became evident to me that they were just not prepared to deal with what Michigan brought to the party ... a fine example of that came on what turned out to be the last real play of the game ... Stanford had the ball facing 4th down and short yardage ... Michigan anticipated a run play into the line and massed their defense against such an effort ... the ball was snapped, QB hands off to the running back who SHOULD have been able to see that the door was virtually wide open on both the left and right ... but instead of heading through either open door, he ran straight ahead into a mass of about 17 or 18 very large bodies ... and, to the surprise of absolutely NO observer, the runner was stuffed for no gain and it was game over ... Michigan takes two kneel-down snaps, the clock runs out and they get the win. It was enough to make me question just how smart those Stanford guys really are, despite the supposed high IQs required for admission to Stanford ... watching that conclusion, I remarked to MrsS that with play like that, Stanford just didn't deserve the win and it would have been a mis-carriage of justice if they'd done so by some fluke.
