Good day to all and hello.

My name is Chuck. Some may know me from other forums as Truckerchuck. I am three weeks away from my 67th birthday and have been a dedicated pipe smoker for only the last 10 years or so. I smoked my first pipe while in highschool back in Oxnard, Calif. at the tender age of 15. That pipe and tobacco, a $2.95 Dr. G. and Middleton's Cherry Blend almost cured me forever. I went back to cigarettes and stayed with them until the mid 70's when I "graduated" to cigars.

I am a retired cross country truck driver who stayed out for a month at a time before coming home for 4 or 5 days. One afternoon, just after my wife had stopped smoking, I strolled in with a Joya De Nicaragua Classic stuck in my maw.

"Gee Honey, that thing REALLY stinks. I don't think you can smoke them in the house anymore, but you can smoke a pipe." says Herself.

And a monster was born.

My favorite pipe brand is Peterson's, espacially the higher grades in both System and non-System pipes. My preferance in tobaccos is English blends altho I've recently developed a fondness for Va's.

I also moderate the Peterson's Smokers Group on Smokers Forums.

Yes Kevin, I have. In fact I have a Samhain X220B ordered. My favorite Peterson shape is the no longer made 308. The X220B is very close to it.

Greetings all!
Just found this site a few weeks ago and I must say, I'm very pleased with what I've been reading as I lurk. Top hole advice the whole way 'round!
Started my first pipe in the army back in 95. Been an on again, off again thing since then. Just can't seem to get it quite right. A bit like golf, I think. Small ball, big club, wide open green, shouldn't be that hard. Pipe, tobacco, match. Easy-peasy, right?
Every time I pick the pipe back up, I learn a bit more, then get frustrated and say sod it all, and put it down for a bit. All of that to say, expect many questions! Have decided to try it this time as if I know nothing. (which shouldn't be too hard ;) ) I have 6 corn cobs, 2 briars and one lovely meer. Bring it on!
Currently have 2 tins of Navy Flake from MacBaren that has been cellaring since 07 (the last time I gave this a go, right after quitting cigarettes), so I'll start there, I suppose.
Pleasure to meet all y'all!

Thanks for the welcome and the information. Found some Mixture flake hiding in the back of cupboard. Rehydrated it, used the fold and stuff. The videos helped immensely Holy flaming poop on stick! Not sure why I didn't smoke more of this two years ago. Simply amazing stuff. Just have to work on getting the light right. ;) nom nom nom!
