A problem with sodas, whether high fructose corn syrup, "real" cane sugar, or any of the several artificial sweeteners, is

that once you drink them, they tend to become the default water source, so whatever the ingredients besides water are,

you ingest a lot of them. With sugar you gain too much weight. With the artificial sweeteners, it's probably not so good

either. Other drinks with water (tea, coffee) or just water are probably preferable.
