Danish pipes in general (contemporary ones anyway) have never been the apples of my eye.
This Kai Nielsen is making a challenge of my assertions.

A Jewell of Denmark A (Straight Grain) grade apple with horn stem is about to get an inaugural smoke. Giving it the once over, I must admit I am IMPRESSED at the detail. The stem would be fantastic if done in acrylic or vulcanite, but in horn it's more so.
Drilling is flawlessly bottom center. I couldn't conjure a more perfect size pipe for myself.

I know there's a few floating around the forum- postem up!

Thanks for starting this Brian. I'm glad you like your Kai.

I am a fan of his work. His "Jewel of Denmark" grades are magnificent. His "v" grades represent incredible value.

My first from Kai was this Danish Dublin. It is graded "Jewel of Denmark C." It is also stamped "flame grain."

Acrylic stem.

A lot of his pipes are in the sub-5"/sub-28g category, so theoretically right up my alley.
There's a couple more I like the look of but woof.. I'm trying hard not to get in the habit of purchasing pipes in that price range.

Here's mine. It's a bit of a weird one but I like it.

Nice choice.
I think you'll find that it looks even better in person.

We can assume your other one- the jewel "A"- is behaving well?
Love it - I have to force myself to not pick it up so often.
I've always been a fan of small pipes. That little apple has a TINY chamber. Not just in width, but it's very shallow too. I think it works best with small coin cut blends, as they fit just right.
Definitely looking forward to the second one, which is actually a shorter pipe but deeper in the chamber.
The stem looks incredibly cut too. Should be arriving early this week.

This one is shallow too. I think 22 or 24mm. This was my 2nd from Kai, through the Danish Pipe Shop. Jewel "C" grade.

Tiny little thing, dedicated to Union Square from the start. It likes to be packed pretty tight, smokes for well over an hour, and delivers fantastic flavor.

This one is a Jewel C grade too, with acrylic stem. So so thin at the bit, coupled with the size/weight (4.45" 20g) means it disappears while smoking. That is, except for the fact it's so damn pretty.

It's real nice.
I know you were happy with the horn stem on your #1. I've been looking forward to your reaction to Kai's skills with acrylic.
