I seem to recall steel tubing comes in 3.0mm outer diameter on Amazon. That might be best for your purposes. I’ve been looking at aluminum and brass tubing to replace some early Savinelli tubes that are missing from my pipes.

Yes. I ordered some 3mm OD 2mm ID SS tube from Amazon and some heat shrink. The plan is see if it fits -- if it doesn't I will soften the meer and drill out enough to insert the tubing. Then I will epoxy around the tubing. If you or anyone else have a better idea than JB weld let me know. The tubing will ensure functionality, the epoxy will preserve the appearance of a pipe. I will also "band" it with heat shrink tubing. I'm going to give it my last shot. Who would have thought that Pipe Repair Attachment Disorder is in the DSM 10

Meet Franken pipe. She ain't breaking again at that failure point. This is idiot proof. IMG_20240222_224801048.jpgIMG_20240222_224810469.jpgIMG_20240222_225624671.jpg
See the metal insert supporting the structure from within, and heat shrink from the outside.

it smokes fine. Blowing through the bowl is harder than bringing air to the stem, but I had a bowl last night and it was flawless. Unfortunately, if I ever smoked too hot or didn't dry the tobacco properly, the steel tube would get clogged. That tube will not accept a standard pipe cleaner, just a very thin one, which I find to never make it past the tenon without getting bent. So if the steel insert gets clogged I would have to wait for the pipe to cool and clean the shank separately from the stem.
I do hope that the pink stain makes it's way through the meer and off the surface, but that could be impossible or a while away.

I'm honestly going to get the smallest good metal tubing I can find and if I need to expand the airway by half a millimeter I'm willing to put a drill in this pipe and see what happens. But yeah last resort. It's not worth it anymore as life has given me bigger fish to fry
At this point, it can't hurt! And you may learn something either way!

If it were up to me, I'd drill 2 holes and put it together with ceramic glue and 2 steel dowels, it would take forever and risk shattering the whole thing, then you run the risk of it looking like garbage. Sorry bud, likely a lost cause.
