As my favorite pipes are all under 60 dollars, I'm used to doing "stem work" on all of them. Lightly sanding or filling the draft hole at the button usually. But I wouldn't want to do it on something 5 to 10 times the price! It should come with a comfortable bit at that point me thinks.From all these complaints about stems, I get the impression some of you guys should learn how to "tweak" your own stems. By that I mean learn to work it to get it the way you want. With a few simple tools you can do wonders. A fine file, some sandpaper, compound a drill bit or two and a few other items and you can do wonders. There is quite a bit about this on the nets. Just a friendly suggestion....
No purchase yet! I am waiting for the Chicago Pipe Show with a mission to see some of the suggestions in person. I am hoping that they are on display there.
The Sav in the pic was given to me by my wife. It is the only pipe she has bought or picked out. I treasure it for that exact reason.
