No natural saltiness. There is a heartiness to them though. Ocean is a rough environment. It's eat or get eaten. They aren't really fatty although yellowfin and bluefin can have a bit. Meat tends to be denser than the freshwater fish I've encountered.
Welcome from Central California.
I spend time in New Braunfels every so often to visit family. Spent some time at The Republic and been to Pipe World in Austin.
Any others worth visiting in the area?
I recently ran out of the StewMac product and ordered the Bob Smith.
I much prefer the Bob Smith. Thicker and, at least for now, bonds better and drys faster. I guess I'll just wait and see if it peels!
Didn't have any problem with it adhering.
Had to post. Found 2 Mastersen Freehands (made in Israel) and a pipe knife this weekend. Cleaned up well. Thought they turned out nice. Happy to have them! $50
I agree with the preloading. I highly recommend a wind cap too. Keeps embers from burning your shirt, upholstery etc, especially with windows down and/or moon roof open!
My antique store crawl from this weekend.

All in all not a bad weekend. Averaged about $20 each.
I've smoked pipes for a few years now and understand your pain. My wife has much better hearing and palate than I do. Drives me crazy.
A few months ago I dedicated myself to using the breath method as taught by Muttonchop Piper. It's changed everything. Tasting nuances I never knew existed...
I enjoy rooting around antique stores looking for pipes and accessories. Been doing this for quite some time but have never seen tampers.
Why can’t I find tampers at these places? Don’t find them at estate sales with pipes for sale either. Do they just get thrown away? Do people not know...
