To Bristle Or Not To Bristle: A Poll

I agree, I hate them. I use a Wire Shank Brush when I have to do some extra cleaning, otherwise I use soft tapered cleaners.

    My New Big Wally Frank

Great for self defense !!! Talking about Wally Frank, I have one in my collection but it doesn't say "Ltd", just "Wally Frank", is there a difference?

    Aromatic question

When a tobacco discriptuon says aromatic, does that always mean sweet? If so, what discription would describe the level of sweetness?

    Addicted...

How many out there are addicted to the pipe in the true sense of the word. Like if you didn't have a pipe, you'd be feel anxious, jittery, etc...

Dedicated on ONE brand or blend

Just wondering, with all the different types of tobacco out there, is there anyone who is dedicated to just one brand or blend? I remember ready about (can't remember who it was, long time ago) that he just smoked one brand. At that time, his tobacconist mixed him a special blend and that's all...

    Treasure Island

Sorry, should have been more specific. What I meant was, what people actually smoked in those clay pipes in the 1700's.

    Treasure Island

I was watching Treasure Island the other day and started wondering what Wallace Beery was smoking out of his clay pipe. Anyone know what type of tobacco they actually smoked in those days?

    Sipping or puffing

I found that after the first several puffs, I sip most of the time with the occasional puff. Keeps the smoke nice and cool.

    Virginia

Sorry if this question seem a bit naive but I've seen mention of "Virginia" tobacco on the forum quite often. My questions is: When you say Virginia, do you mean strait Virginia or a mixture dominated by Virginia.

    Mass produced or Hand Made

Is there a way of telling if a pipe is mass produced? I have some pipes that just say "Imported Briar" and some that just say "Hand Made".

    Ghosting Test

grafikchaos: Jud: winton: Your answers make a lot of sense. I can see the logic in them. By what you've said and the fact that I have over a dozen and a half pipes, I think I'll rotate. Thanks

    Ghosting Test

I read a lot about ghosting and many had varying opinions on the subject so I decided to do a test. Let me first say that starting pipe smoking again after 35+ years of abstinence (due to cig smoking) means my palate is probably not as keen as many of you out there. I smoked (briar) non-aromatic...

    William Demuth Milano

I have a William Demuth Milano bent pipe that I acquired in the early 70's. When I try to clean the steam with a pipe cleaner, the pipe cleaner doesn't go all the through to the bowl. The pipe smokes great so there is no obstruction. I read that Demuth copied the "Peterson System" and was...

    Stems...

Always wondered...Do pipe makers make there own stems or do buy them?

New way to quit cigs for a pipe without pills...

I've been having a tough trying to quit my (aprox. 1.5 pack a day) habit. I've gone down a bit since starting pipe smoking again but wanted to do much better. What I realized was that I needed that quick nic jolt, so what I started to do was to have one cig for that quick nic, then relax and...

Cornell & Diehl Bulk BILLY Budd

Has anyone tried "Cornell & Diehl Bulk BILLY Budd" tobacco. If I like Dunhill Night Cap, will I like this? I'm looking for something like Night Cap and/or 965 in bulk to save money.

    What's the difference?

What distinguishes "English" from other non-aromatic (I guess what I mean by non-aromatic is...not cased or sweetened by sprays like Captain Black etc...) tobaccos?
