Trying to figure out what to smoke and what you might like

Baronsamedi, Thank you for that. I never considered that one could do that. I imagine that only the better shops have the tobaccos available in this form. Will do. David

    Cellaring

Isn't the vacuum sealing only for those you wish to keep cellared, and not regularly smoked, since after each opening you'd need to vacuum them again? Thanks. (I'm new here, what do you think the likelihood of a ban is? If Nanny Mike Bloomberg has any say, we'd be fined as well as banned)...

New Or Estate? Which Do You Prefer?

Thanks Cigrmaster, for the suggestion and information. It's helpful. I do like all things collectible, (I managed to buy 30 razors, dating back to 1905, on a spree of just a few months; don't let me get started on pipes lol). I suppose you can appreciate the pipe's history, and with it properly...

New Or Estate? Which Do You Prefer?

Hello, Buying an estate pipe would appeal to me only as a collector. I like a new pipe, to use it and form a "relationship" with it over time. It's true that we do eat with silverware used by others but that it for pure utility, for one meal. We don't examine, dwell upon, nor usually have a...

Trying to figure out what to smoke and what you might like

Hi, I'm a relative novice, bear with me. Tobacco reviewers talk about tastes and types of tobacco, latakia, burley, Virginia, oriental, etc. How does one know, or recognize, each tobacco, in a blend? In order to know what each of these tobaccos tastes like wouldn't one first have to taste it in...

    Severe Back Pain

Wow, it's a bit eerie seeing this topic. I did a lot of going deep in a pool on the 4th of July, and have had "sciatica" since. It usually goes away in a few days but this has lingered, with pretty intense hamstring cramps. Just lessening up tonight. Could it be that being 62 has anything to do...

Tobacco Basics - Nicotine & Sugar Content - Curing Methods

Hi, Thank you for the article. I'm a novice at pipe smoking and look forward to learning. This kind of material is a big plus. I have a question in a similar vein. In many tobacco reviews pipers refer to individual tobaccos and their flavors, ex. latlakia, Virginia, barley, oriental, etc. How...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hello all, I smoked a bit in the '70's but only really started again in May 2012, thus I'm very much a novice. (A hand made pipe, 1971 Don-Lou, disappeared from my desk at work, but it re-sparked my interest,so some good can be found in all things). I have a question about tobacco reviews I've...

Thank you all. I'm not familiar with navigating here and only now saw your comments. Thanks again. (No filter with this "model", doing well without).

    Savinelli 320 ex filter/

Hi, I just purchased a new Savinelli 320 ex. It did not come with the filters I've since read ought to have been included. I've not yet opened it to see if there's one inside already, the shop said that if there is one inside, they'll provide me with ten more. Your advice or thoughts please...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hi, My interest in pipe smoking has been rekindled after losing a old "Don-Lou". Is anyone familiar with the "Don-Lou" line of pipes? They were hand made made in Brooklyn, (Bath Beach) back in the 60's and 70's. I'm almost overwhelmed with the wide variety of pipes now available. I'm thinking...
