    Opinions

This is kind of a pointless thread. Why are men so whiny and indecisive these days? Do what you want, Mahew. If you enjoy pipe smoking and want to encourage your ADULT son, then just do it. There are much more dangerous or expensive things than pipe smoking. And don't listen to Warren. He's a...

    Austria Scraps Public Smoking Ban

10 Seconds in the Micro--Yea or Nay?

Been microwaving tobacco for years. Works great every time.

    Health Benefits Of Tobacco

I totally agree. Genetics plays the biggest part. Strict, non-smoking vegetarian health nuts sometimes dying from lung cancer at 25. Cigarette chain smokers sometimes living to be 100. There are no guarantees in life. Enjoy it while you can.

    Non-Aro Vs. Aro Status -- A Shift

Same here. I enjoy my Englishes once in a while, but I smoke mostly Carter Hall, Amphora Green (Rich Aroma), and Amphora Red (Full Aroma). All three are aros, but good quality aros that taste great, aren't soaked in PG, and smoke cool. I think Cosmic is right to call the low quality aros...

    Non-Aro Vs. Aro Status -- A Shift

Well, it seems younger people usually like sweet and fruity flavors, so I guess new young smokers are automatically attracted to the cheaper aromatics. Unfortunately the pouch smell and room note usually doesn't translate into flavor. And it doesn't help that many tobacco shop employees...

    Tongue Burn

In my opinion, the most common factor of a burnt tongue and mouth is improper drying of the tobacco before smoking, thus causing the smoker to puff more quickly in an attempt to keep the moist tobacco lit. This excessive puffing creates hot steam, which burns the tongue and mouth. The dryer the...

    Carter Hall - Bad Flavour

Smokertruck, try microwaving the amount of one bowl on a small plate for 20-30 seconds on high setting to dry it and then smoke it immediately afterward. I didn't like the taste of CH so much straight out of a freshly opened tub, but since I started microwaving to dry it out, it's good stuff...

    Email from 4Noggins.

Rich, enjoy your retirement! You were always great to deal with and I never once had a problem with my overseas orders. Hmm. That's an old news article from 2001. If that is the same guy, maybe the whole thing is no longer relevant.

What Is With All the Links To Threads Instead Of Answers?

I don't really feel like searching through the forums for specific threads. It would be easier just to name the couple of names (everyone already knows who they are), but I know that's not appropriate. Let's just say that it's done in a way so as to not break the board rules too much and draw...

What Is With All the Links To Threads Instead Of Answers?

Well-said, kola. I have to agree. It is only a handful of crusty old members here that occasionally post rude/childish responses for attention, or gang up on members they don't agree with. And when someone calls one of them out, the rest come running to defend him. Most members (and all the...

    A Few "Non-Smoker Newbie" Thoughts

Yes, very nice room note. You will get a lot of compliments. CH burns cool with no bite because it is mostly burley containing very little casing, plus it has an excellent pineapple/mango/coconut flavor. Try drying it first before smoking, because I think it tastes much better that way. I nuke...

    Smoking a Pipe While Walking

Me too. I usually walk for exercise, and smoke my pipe for relaxation. Cannot do both at the same time. Besides, I usually prefer indoor smoking, unless the weather is perfect.

What Is With All the Links To Threads Instead Of Answers?

Hmm. I have to agree with cigrmaster. If the trend of members posting links instead of answers accelerates, then this place will eventually wither away and die. Seen it happen to other boards. The less the activity, the less people will visit. Nothing kills a question thread quicker than a link...

How Many Bowls Per Day? Yeah Yeah I Know It's Been Asked Before

Same here. 3-5 a day (depending on the blend strength) in medium bowls. But they know better than you, and it's for your own good. Don't you realize that?

    Issues With P&C......Again

unkleyoda, just order your tobacco from 4noggins.com I have never had a problem with them. Good prices and good customer service. Maybe they don't have as many % off sales or giveaways, but they are more reliable.

    Social Smoke

In the 12 1/2 years I've lived here, only once- about 12 years ago. He was an older gentleman inside a restaurant smoking an aromatic in a bent briar. Smelled great. In my house? Every time I look in the mirror.

Published My First EBook Fantasy Novel - Get It Free for a Limited Time

Thanks for the encouragement, Harris. I haven't read that series yet, but it looks interesting. I don't know if I can make a career out of it, but writing a series of old-school style fantasy novellas is always something I wanted to try. Thanks to eBook technology and Kindle Direct Publishing, I...

Published My First EBook Fantasy Novel - Get It Free for a Limited Time

My Kindle eBook fantasy novella is now free once again for the next 24 hours. Please keep in mind that it is a light, fun read aimed mostly at children and young adult readers, so it may not be mature enough for many of you sophisticated pipe smokers. It is a novella, so total reading...
