Hi; I recently Purchased a lovely old bent stemmed Billiard Bowled Pipe branded JPL BRUYERE ST.CLAUDE FRANCE. The Shank is very short and chunky. I've been trying to find some history of the JPL brand in particular, but can find nothing other than it's a French made St.Claude pipe. Can...- oldsoldier

TENON STUCK TIGHT IN SHANK
Problem solved; some clown had actually glued the tenon into the shank. I'll be sending it off to the USA to have the tenon drilled out, a new one fitted to the stem and married to the shank. I just don't understand some people's thinking. Thanks all for the advice. Now to Google a reputable...- oldsoldier

Thank you everyone for sharing your expertise, it's very much appreciated. The freezer operation failed, so now I'll attempt samanden's advice along with the Andrew ammendment. The stem is in mint condition, it's just the tenon that's bringing me to my knees in frustration. Thanks again fellas- oldsoldier

TENON STUCK TIGHT IN SHANK
Any advice on how to safely remove a Tenon stuck tightly inside a pipe shank. I bought the pipe in this condition, and it appears that the sleeve of the tenon simply stayed in the pipe when the stem was removed. The pipe is a nice Savinelli and I'm afraid that in my ignorance I'll make matters...- oldsoldier

If you google the patent number this turns up: Improved machine for burnishing spoons US 29650 A That's from 1860 by Habby.M. Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a busy guy, filing lots of patents! Boswell Stem Suddenly Loose
With Vulcanite Stems, he first thing to try should be to simply heat the tenon, then allow it to cool. The Vulcanite stems have some memory and more often than not, will reshape out.- oldsoldier

Australian Plain Packaging Laws 12 Months In
Being seen blind stinking drunk outside of a pub here Down-under, causes barely a public ripple; but G-d forbid being seen quietly smoking withing 400 metres of that same pub. It's become almost a hanging offence to smoke here these days.- oldsoldier
