First Briar -- Buy New or Estate?

Thank you everyone who read my post and took the time to reply. Looks like I'll be getting a brand new briar pipe, leaning toward Peterson due to being half Irish myself.

First Briar -- Buy New or Estate?

Hey all, I'm looking to get my first briar pipe -- I've been very happy with my cob pipe, but briar bulldog pipes just catch my eye. Also, I want a "sophisticated" looking pipe for social events that call for cigars (I don't care for cigars) and something where I can have a little pride of...

    Smoking jackets?

Once upon a time, after dinner, men would retire to a room or lounge for a leisurely smoke and conversation. They would don smoking jackets, intended to protect their evening wear from ash and odor. Hugh Hefner co-opted the look and it's become a trademark of his hedonism, but I can see the...

Proper tobacco storage from a tin

Got it, thanks guys. It's a tin of Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice, I'm going to puff some this weekend. I have a glass jar ready for it.

This is actually one of my questions -- what exactly is a codger blend? I've gathered that they are the inexpensive bulk tobacco commonly available... I was looking at Borkum Riff because I want to try a straight cavendish. Would this be a codger?

I'm also a fan of Scrapple -- I consider it an obligatory meal when I visit Reading Terminal Market in Philly.

    Hey from NJ

Lurker turned member. I smoked cigarettes for 12 years, gave those up a decade ago. I've dabbled here and there in other tobacco vices -- dip, cigars, and recently, e-cigarettes. I'm not new to tobacco or nicotine. Something about pipes -- pride of ownership, accessories, the aesthetics --...
