    Anyone Like Captain Black

Captain Black is my 'go-to' smoke. I started back in about '77. I've been through Prince Albert, Half 'n' Half, Borkum Riff, Amphora and a nice blend from RJ Reynolds called "Apple", that you can't find anymore (at least I can't) and have ended up smoking Capt. Black White or Blue label almost...

    Clay

So I'm knocking around the web and find a pipe shop in upstate NY, in the Adirondacks, and they've got Briar Churchwardens and all different kinds of clays. I'm familiar with all kinds of briars, but am new to clays. I'm getting a combo from them. A 16 inch 'Continental Tavern Pipe (long...

How much do YOU smoke a day? (in ozs or lbs)

Subtech 77: Thanks for helping me with my avatar. It's gratefully appreciated.

How much do YOU smoke a day? (in ozs or lbs)

By the way, does anyone know why my post concerning how many pipes a day did not include my avatar? I've got one, but as I can clearly see, there's just a shadow of someone with a pipe in his face and a question mark where the face should be. Does anyone know, 'what's the deal'?

    Gurgling noise in my pipe?

Smoke slower, draw with less intensity, and, if that's not enough, run a pipe cleaner down there one or two times. That ought to do it.

Can You Recommend A Good Pipe Repair Shop?

EA Carey, yes, the guys with the "Magic Inch" filters also have a pipe repair service. I sent one of my treasured Wally Frank Naturals there for a new stem. I had the pipe since 1979, it was one of a pair of French Straight Grain 'seconds', one a full bent, the other a Dublin. Anyway, the...

    The Pipe

"The Pipe" was, IMHO, quickly tossed aside by those who were not aware of, or didn't care to accomodate "The Pipe"'s quirks. It can't be smoked like a briar or even a meerchaum. You've got to pack it looser, too. Pack loose, smoke slower than you're used to and draw gently. It works for me...
