    Has anyone tried Kingsford charcoal ash for pipe mud?

    I think Kingsford blue bag uses chemicals as a binder and I am not sure I would use it for my pipe. That is why is has the unique smell. Perhaps try a lump charcoal like Royal Oak.

    Thanks PA, I had seen that and am reasonably sure it is a "1964" due to the smaller "4" after England, but it is kind of hard to tell in my picture. The shape is what is throwing me for a loop. I don't think it is quite right for a Dublin, but from what I can determine the "42" indicate Dublin...

    Maybe it is a Zulu, it looks like the Dublin is straight and a Zulu is bent a little. Perhaps a different stem on a Dublin bowl?
