How much would you pay for a pipe ?
I agree with hobie1dog. It would be a stupid purchase for most of us, because most of us don't have that kind of discretionary income, but for others it would be like buying a cup of coffee.- frank

I've acquired a few older four-digit Kaywoodies recently, and I continue to be amazed at just how beautiful some of that old wood really is. I've only ever owned three new pipes, and one was a nice Stanwell billiard. But as soon as I acquired an early (late 30's?) Flame Grain Kaywoodie billiard... -

Favorite pipe shape ?
Mostly straight pipes, though I am fond of slightly bent pipes (and/or bent stems), like authors, princes, and a particular pre-Grabow Linkman's Hollycourt 8833 which somewhat resembles the old, fuller-figured Peterson 999s.- frank

How Many Times a day do you smoke?
0-1 is all I'm good for. Thankfully the wife lets me smoke indoors anytime, any room, which is why I don't abuse her tolerance of my hobby. She's a good sport.- frank

I think this may just be one of those cases where some popular association becomes the general term used to refer to an item. How many non-pipe folk refer to a calabash as a "Sherlock Holmes" pipe? Let's face it, the calabash has had this problem long before the Gandalf reference to the...- frank

I just sold a pre-1936 UNSMOKED, pristine-condition Chinrester several weeks ago. It looked brand new, which is not bad for a 70+ year old pipe.
