    Morning Smoke?

I second the burley recommendations. IF you're a latakia smoker you probably want a little more depth than what is in the usual though... Burley London Blend is a good one, I'd also say Navy Flake and (my personal morning favorite) GLP Barbary Coast.

    Excellent clay pipe from Dawnmist!

If you find the stickiness of the dry end annoying, dipping it in melted beeswax or paraffin (with a pipe cleaner in there to pull out after the dip) will create a nice smooth area that will last a while.

Sour Pipes or Perhaps Something Else???

If the infection was anywhere in your sinuses or respiratory system, too, it may have altered your sensitivity to tastes and smells. You might want to hold off smoking until you've run the course of antibiotics.. Even colds and diet can have an effect on these things. For a while all latakia...

    Removing massive cake

I tend to use a small penknife blade to peel off slivers of cake. It takes a delicate hand.. and I wouldn't do this with an expensive pipe, or a pipe that had a very flush, straight inside rim. For the levels of carbon you've got in that older pipe, it may be a much faster way to come down from...

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Mac Baren Navy Flake in a Stanwell featherweight. A little late night piping to settle thoughts and do some writing.

How Old When You Smoked Your First Pipe?

I was 18 (so this was 11 years ago). On the advice of the tobacco store owner, I bought a basket pipe and an 8oz tin of MacBaren Black Ambrosia. I was disappointed because the tobacco was hard to keep lit, and smoked hot. I didn't know about drying out tobacco.. then I accidentally snapped the...

Flat Tobacco Review #1: G.L. Pease Triple Play

Hello, all. I know I'd never keep up with a reviews blog (I have enough trouble with the fiction blog I write), so I thought I'd just post here on occasion. I'm not an expert, so please forgive my mistakes and assumptions. At the Chicago show, I bought some of Pease's new Triple Play plug, and...

    Excellent clay pipe from Dawnmist!

I ordered a churchwarden clay pipe from Heather several years ago, and it was excellent. I can second the recommendation wholeheartedly! During a move, I broke it accidentally. This was a silly thing for me to do.. I've always wanted to order another; this may be the right time eh :)

Cynthia is a Classy Lady Smoking a Bo Nordh Horn

Got to meet Cynthia at the Chicago show, who convinced me to log on to the forum. She was very friendly and genuine.. I'd be nervous smoking somebody's $8k pipe! Kudos to Rick for loaning it out.

A great weekend at the Chicago Pipe Show

I was there as well! I've been going to the Chicago show since 2003, though I missed a few years in there due to apathy, flu, and marriage (my wedding was on the same day as the show, one year). I didn't really see any "oh wow" pipes there this year; perhaps they were all bought in the pre-show...
